Schlosser Development Corporation - Building Lifestyles From The Ground Up
Schlosser Development is a real estate investment, development, and property management company headquartered in Austin, Texas. Since 1985, Schlosser Development has been involved in the development, redevelopment, ownership, and management of our properties, which include more than 2,000,000 square feet of commercial property. Here are some of our milestones:

  • 1986 - Schlosser Development is started in Austin, Texas by Brad and Andy Schlosser. Their first project was the design, development, and marketing of the San Gabriel.

  • 1989 - Highland Pavilion opens. It is Schlosser Development's first large retail center. The center housed the first General Cinema in Central Texas.

  • 1992 - Schlosser Development opens Plaza de Laredo in Laredo, Texas. The suburban center is 260,000 square feet. The tenants include Home Depot, Office Depot, Outback Steakhouse, and Chili's.

  • 1995 - The 225,000 square foot, suburban McAllen Pavilion opens. Schlosser Development surpasses the 500,000 square foot mark.

  • 1996 - Schlosser begins to crystallize vision of being an urban developer and starts to assemble land parcels in west downtown Austin for the Market District project. Click here for an area plan and more information

  • 1999 - The construction of the South Block of Austin's urban Market District commences.

  • 2001 - The South block is completed. The building is a 90,000 square foot mixed use project. Tenants include Austin-based Powerhouse Gym, Graeber, Simmons & Cowan, OfficeMax, Starbuck's, and AT&T. The building also serves as the offices of Schlosser Development.

  • 2001 - Schlosser Development announces partnership with Weiner Development Corporation. The partnership constructs and opens its first suburban center in Houston. The Louetta project is 240,000 square feet.

  • 2002 - Schlosser and Weiner constructs and opens the El Dorado Market in Houston. The suburban center is the partnership's largest, offering 540,000 square feet. The center houses the most successful Kohl's department store in Houston. Schlosser Development goes over 1,000,000 square feet of developed and managed property.

  • 2002 - Whole Foods Market announces the building of their largest store in the country and consolidation of their world headquarters in Austin's Market District at Sixth Street and Lamar Boulevard. The decision to remain in Austin's downtown is applauded by the city. Click here for renderings and more information

  • 2002 - Second and third phases of Louetta are built. The phase adds 160,000 square feet.

  • 2003 - Schlosser and Weiner begin construction on Kemah Marketplace in Houston. Kemah is completed ahead of schedule in May and opens to large crowds.

  • May, 2003 - Schlosser Development and Whole Foods Market break ground on the Whole Foods Market and Landmark Store in Austin's Market District.

  • March, 2005 - Whole Foods Market opens up Landmark Store in Austin's Market District. The store is 85,000 square feet and is Whole Foods' best performing store in the country. The project includes Whole Foods Market's National Headquarters.

  • October, 2006 - Whole Foods announces that they will build their first store in Boise, Idaho. Schlosser Development is named as the developer.

  • November, 2006 - Schlosser Development opens the re-developed Sixth & Lamar in Austin's Market District. They are are also named by the owner as the manager. The project includes Austin's first Anthropologie, an REI and Independent Bookstore of the Year Book People.

    • 2007 - Whole Foods Market announces the relocation of their North Austin store to the corner of Mopac/Braker.  Schlosser Development is the landlord and owner.

    • 2007 - Schlosser Development anounes a 25,000 quare foot office/mixed-use project in Westlake (suburb of Austin) anchored by American Bank.

    • May, 2008 - Schlosser Development purchases a 20,000 square foot building on May Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bank of America is the sole tenant and occupies the entire building.

    • September, 2008 - Schlosser Development commences construction of 1011 W. 5th Street in the Market District.  HomeAway and West Elm are the anchor tenants.

    • January, 2009 - Schlosser Development refinances the Oklahoma City building and the Mopac/Braker property with Compass Bank.

    • February, 2009 - Rheta Williams, head of Schlosser Development's Property Management team, and her husband, Dan, tragically die in a private plane crash.

    • June, 2009 - Whole Foods Market World Headquarters Building wins the coveted BOMA International 2009 TOBY Office Building of the Year Award in the 1000,000 - 249,999 square foot category.

    September 2009 - HomeAway, the world's leading online vacation rental marketplace, moves its headquarters into a new four-story, 86,000 square foot, mixed-use building at 1011 W. 5th Street, Schlosser's newest development in the Market District..

    September 2009 - Home Furnishings Store West Elm, one of the subsidiaries of the William-Sonoma, Inc., opened its first Austin location at 5th and Lamar in the Market District.

    February 2010 - Schlosser Development and Weiner Development partner up to develop Tower Pointe in Bryan-College Station.  The 100 acre development will consist of retail, restaurant, banking, office and include national and regional companies.  HEB, expected to be the largest grocery store in the region, and Scott and White Medical Clinic are scheduled to open in the Spring.

    April 2010 - Schlosser Development teams up with Raleigh's first Container Store to bring you Crabtree Valley Place in North Carolina.  The 4.7 acre tract is adjacent to Crabtree Valley Mall and planned for a unique specialty retail center - without the mall hassle.

    July 2010 - Texas Running Company, a running and walking resource center with a vast inventory, opens its doors in the Market District at 1011 W. 5th St..

    July 2010 - AT&T store relocates to 1011 W. 5th Street, Schlosser Development's newest addition to the Market District, from the 900 block of West 5th St. about a block away.

    July 2010 - Compuzone Inc, an Apple computer seller and service provider, is moving downtown to the Market District from its current location on Shoal Creek Boulevard.  The larger space at 1011 W. 5th Street will allow the company to provide educational seminars as well.
